MS TUBE is short for Mild Steel Tube, which is a carbon steel pipe with a low carbon content, generally in the range of 0.05% to 0.25%. MS Tube is used in a wide range of applications and is commonly used to transport liquids, gases, and solid particles, as well as in structural and architectural applications. Applications include water well pipes, oil and gas pipelines, building frames, electrical conduits, and more. So ms pipe is a universal and versatile pipe
There are many different types of MS tube Today we will mainly look at the four commonly used types of ms pipe: erw pipe, lsaw pipe, ssaw pipe, smls pipe.
ERW MS tube is made by applying resistive heat energy at both ends, which melts the edges of the steel plates and combines them into a single piece, this type of ms pipe produces a tasting weld.
Advantage: It has the advantages of low manufacturing cost, high production efficiency and smooth surface. Moreover, for the size of the pipe can be customized according to the user’s needs, which is highly flexible.
With erw pipe, there is no need to worry about whether the weld is strong or not. Since its weld is controlled during the manufacturing process, ERW pipe has relatively high weld quality and is suitable for many applications.
MS Tube- LSAW Process
LSAW pipes are pipes made using the longitudinal submerged arc welding process.
Advantage: This type of pipe is manufactured with a larger range of diameters and is suitable for transporting large flows of liquids and gases. The quality of the welds and the overall performance of the MS tube are superior, making it particularly suitable for large projects.
The only drawback is the relatively high cost of this type of pipe.
MS Tube- SSAW Process
SSAW pipe is a ms pipe made by the spiral submerged arc welding process.
Advantage: It has the characteristics of uniformity inside and outside the weld line, good quality of weld seam, controllable shape of the pipe, etc.
SSAW pipe is widely used in the field of transporting oil and natural gas, and is suitable for burying along the curve or inclined ground.
MS Tube- SMLS Process
SMLS pipe is a seamless pipe that is manufactured without welds.
This type of pipe has the advantages of high strength, good compression resistance, and corrosion resistance.SMLS pipe is suitable for high pressure, high temperature, or applications where seamless pipe properties are required.
However, this type of ms pipe has a smooth surface, thicker wall thickness, high weight, and both production and transportation costs are higher.
Overall, the selection of the appropriate type of MS pipe depends on the specific application requirements. Each type of pipe has its unique advantages and application scenarios. Proper selection and use of these pipe types in an engineering project will help ensure the reliability and safety of the piping system.
