Chemical Requirements of ASTM A210
Pandapipe manufactures ASTM A210/A210M pipes in strict accordance with the chemical composition requirements of the standard. Carefully control the proportion of chemical elements to ensure the mechanical properties and service life of the pipe. Pipes manufactured by Pandapipe are not allowed to contain any element composition not listed in the standard to ensure their purity and performance.
| Chemical Requirements | ||
|---|---|---|
| Element | Composition, % | |
| Grade A- 1 | Grade C | |
| CarbonA, max | 0.27 | 0.35 |
| Manganese | 0.93 max | 0.29– 1.06 |
| Phosphorus, max | 0.035 | 0.035 |
| Sulfur, max | 0.035 | 0.035 |
| Silicon, min | 0.1 | 0.1 |
| A For each reduction of 0.01 % below the specified carbon maximum, an increase of 0.06 % manganese above the specified maximum will be permitted up to a maximum of 1.35 %. | ||
Mechanical Requirements of ASTM A210
Pandapipe’s pipes have been tested for key mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength and elongation. These tubes are designed to withstand expansion, flanging, forging, welding and bending without defects. They have undergone tensile testing, flattening testing, flaring testing, hardness testing and hydrostatic or non-destructive electrical testing to ensure their mechanical integrity.
| Tensile Requirements | ||
|---|---|---|
| Grade A- 1 | Grade C | |
| Tensile strength, min, ksi [MPa] | 60 [415] | 70 [485] |
| Yield strength, min, ksi [MPa] | 37 [255] | 40 [275] |
| Elongation in 2 in. or 50 mm, min, % | 30 | 30 |
| For longitudinal strip tests, a deduction shall be made for each 1⁄32-in. [0.8-mm] decrease in wall thickness under 5⁄16in. [8 mm] from the basic minimum elongation of the following percentage points | 1.50A | 1.50A |
| When standard round 2-in. or 50-mm gage length or smaller proportionally sized specimen with the gage length equal to 4D (four times the diameter) is used | 22 | 20 |

- Shipbuilding industry: often used in ship boiler flue gas treatment and steam piping system.
- Coal-fired and gas-fired power plants: commonly used in steam systems and heat exchange systems.
- Petrochemical industry: It is often used in petrochemical low-pressure transportation pipelines and high-temperature transportation pipelines and high-pressure reactor pipelines in petroleum refining.
FAQs
1.Main processes and applications of ASTM A210
The full name of the ASTM A210 standard is “Standard Specification for Medium Carbon Steel Seamless Tubes for Boilers and Superheaters”, so the main process is seamless process, and the main application is pressure vessels such as boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers.
2.What is the difference between A210 and A106 seamless pipes?
Both standards refer to seamless carbon steel pipes, but the main difference between them lies in their application areas. ASTM A210 is specifically designed for pressure vessels such as boilers and superheaters, while ASTM A106 is primarily for high-temperature and high-pressure transmission pipes.
3.What is the difference between SA-210 and A210?
There is no difference between the two standards in terms of content. A210 is issued by ASTM, and SA-210 is issued by ASME. When the pressure vessel or boiler equipment used is ASME certified, SA-210 issued by ASME must be used.
