  • a   The carbon content for L80 may be increased up to 0.50 % maximum if the product is oil-quenched or polymer-quenched.
  • b   The molybdenum content for Grade C90 Type 1 has no minimum tolerance if the wall thickness is less than 17.78 mm.
  • c  The carbon content for R95 may be increased up to 0.55 % maximum if the product is oil-quenched.
  • d   The molybdenum content for T95 Type 1 may be decreased to 0.15 % minimum if the wall thickness is less than 17.78 mm.

Test of API 5CT Casings & Tubing

CVN impact test: A test to assess the resistance of API 5CT Casings & Tubings to shock and fracture under dynamic loading.

Flattening Test: The Flattening Test was used to evaluate the plastic deformation and flattening resistance of API 5CT Casings & Tubings.
Bend Test: By observing whether the sample has cracks, fractures, etc. To evaluate the mechanical properties of API 5CT Casings & Tubings when subjected to bending loads.

FAQs:

What is updated in the 11th edition of API 5CT

Thread processing: Update the special end thread processing requirements and expand the triangle mark requirements (such as allowing the use of vibration hammering on P110 steel grade pipe).
Material classification: Cancel the concept of material grouping of Groups 1-4, adjust the requirements of N80-1 steel grade, and eliminate M65 steel grade9.
Hardness and corrosion testing: Update the hardness requirements of L80, C90, T95 and C110 according to NACE MR0175, and optimize the SSC (sulfide stress corrosion) test method.

N80 has high carbon content and low alloy content, average corrosion resistance, minimum yield strength of 552MPa, and low cost.
L80 has high Cr content, good corrosion resistance, slightly higher strength, and higher cost.
N80: Preferred for shallow wells with simple geological conditions and cost sensitivity.
L80: Suitable for deep wells and highly corrosive environments (such as oil and gas fields containing H₂S or CO₂)
