Chemical Requirements of BS3601

The steel used in our BS3601 pipes conforms to strict chemical requirements. Mechanical Requirements of BS3601

Our BS3601 pipes meet rigorous mechanical requirements. They are designed to withstand high pressure without leakage. Each pipe undergoes a hydrostatic test to ensure there is no leakage through the pipe wall. Alternatively, we can perform a non-destructive electrical test if preferred by the purchaser.

BS 3601 Tube Steel Grades

BS3601 Production Tolerance

Outside diameter:
up to and including 168.3 mm ±1 % with a minimum tolerance of± 0.50 mm
over 168.3 mm ±0.75 %
Thickness: ±10 %
Outside diameter: ±1 % with a minimum tolerance of± 0.50 mm
Thickness as a percentage of outside diameter:
up to and including 3 % ±15 %
over 3 % ±12.5 %
Where the legth is specifed as “exact length” or“cut length”, the permissible deviation shall be + 6, -0 mm for lengths up to and including 6 m.For every 3 m increase in length above 6 m, the plus tolerance shall be increased by 1.5 mm with a maximum of 12.0 mm.
