Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — September 2026
PANDAPIPE participated in ROG.e 2026, held from September 21 to 24 at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro. The team met customers and energy industry professionals from Brazil and other Latin American markets to discuss steel pipe requirements for energy and infrastructure projects.
Conversations covered API 5L line pipe, seamless and welded steel pipe, coating, inspection and quality documentation. For PANDAPIPE, the event provided an opportunity to look beyond a product list and understand the technical information customers need when assessing a potential supplier.
From Pipe Dimensions to a Complete Specification
Pipe diameter and wall thickness provide a starting point for an enquiry. They do not, on their own, define the full scope of a project order.
The discussions in Rio included material grades, manufacturing routes and project-specific requirements. These subjects affect how a manufacturer reviews an enquiry and what a buyer should expect to see in the quotation.
For example, two offers for the same pipe dimensions may include different inspection scopes, coating requirements or documentation. A price comparison is less useful if those differences remain unresolved.
For purchasing teams, a practical first step is to provide the applicable standard, grade, dimensions, quantities and any supplementary project specification together. Where a requirement is still under review, identifying it as an open item helps avoid treating an assumption as an agreed condition.
Inspection Requirements Need a Shared Reference
Inspection and quality documentation were also among the topics discussed at ROG.e.
For energy projects, buyers need to understand both what will be inspected and which records will accompany the supplied pipe. The applicable standard and purchase specification provide the basis for that agreement.
A request for “test certificates,” for instance, can leave questions unanswered. The required certificate type, supporting test records and any third-party inspection arrangements need to be defined where applicable.
Material identification matters as well. Records should be linked to the supplied material so the customer can check the delivery against the order requirements.
These are useful points to resolve during technical review. If documentation expectations emerge only when the goods are ready, the parties may need additional clarification before shipment or acceptance.
Reviewing Coating Alongside the Pipe Requirement
Corrosion protection formed another part of the conversations with customers and visitors.
A coating requirement should be considered alongside the pipe specification and intended service conditions. Naming a coating system alone may not describe the full scope: surface preparation, application requirements, inspection and acceptance criteria may also need to be specified.
There are practical handling questions, too. Coated pipe must pass through storage, loading and transport before reaching the customer, so protection during these stages deserves attention in the supply discussion.
For buyers preparing an enquiry, including the project coating specification allows the supplier to review the requested work more accurately. It also makes it easier to identify which processing and inspection activities are included in the offer.
Understanding Regional Project Needs Through Direct Exchange
ROG.e brought PANDAPIPE into direct conversation with professionals working across the energy value chain.
The meetings offered context for requirements that can be difficult to understand from a short enquiry alone. Technical review, purchasing priorities and delivery expectations are connected, but different people may be responsible for each part.
Face-to-face discussion helped the team better understand those relationships and the questions customers need answered before progressing with a supplier.
The event also provided opportunities to exchange views on energy development and supply chains, alongside the more detailed discussions about steel pipe applications.
Continuing the Discussions After Rio
PANDAPIPE thanks the customers, partners and industry professionals who met with the team during ROG.e 2026.
The follow-up will focus on the requirements behind individual enquiries. Customers sourcing line pipe or other project steel pipe can share their pipe schedule, technical specification, coating requirements and inspection scope for review.
Including any unresolved technical points at this stage will help frame the next conversation and establish a clearer basis for quotation.
PANDAPIPE looks forward to continuing these exchanges with customers across Brazil and Latin America.
