Pipe Schedule, abbreviated as Sch, is a set of unified wall thickness specifications used to indicate the wall thickness grade of pipes.
What Does Pipe Schedule Specifically Represent?
Pipe Schedule simplifies the process by simply specifying the nominal pipe diameter and the Pipe Schedule number to determine the required pipe wall thickness. A larger Pipe Schedule number (e.g., Schedule 160 vs. Schedule 80) indicates a thicker wall thickness and greater pressure-bearing capacity for the same nominal pipe diameter. However, this also means the pipe will be heavier, resulting in higher material and shipping costs, and a smaller inner diameter.
