Difference Between SS And MS

Component comparison
SS (stainless steel): chromium content ≥ 10.5%, a chromium oxide protective layer will be formed on the surface

MS (low carbon steel): contains a small amount of carbon (less than 0.25%)

Differences in characteristics and scenarios
SS (stainless steel): corrosion-resistant, anti-oxidation, and high temperature resistant. Usually used in environments with high requirements for pipelines such as medical precision instruments and food processing.

MS (low carbon steel): low cost, good ductility, easy to weld and process, but low hardness, not corrosion-resistant and easy to rust. Anti-corrosion coating can be applied on the surface to increase its corrosion resistance and extend its service life. MS pipelines are usually used in temporary structures, non-load-bearing structures, ordinary pipelines, and other ordinary scenarios that do not require high pressure bearing capacity.
